Getting to fly out to Colorado just for these two was something so so special. Lauren and Trent are absolute angels, and they made my first time in Colorado unforgettable! It was such a privilege to photograph their engagement session in a place that meant so much to them.

We started their Colorado engagement session at their wedding venue, which made everything feel even more intentional. Exploring the space together and hearing about their plans for the big day was the perfect way to start off our time together! From there, we stopped at their favorite date-night spot, Torchy’s Tacos (10/10 recommend the queso). It was the sweetest way to document places that are part of their everyday life before heading somewhere iconic.
Then we made our way to Garden of the Gods, a place that Trent grew up visiting and that holds so much emotional significance for him. Photographing them there made the entire session feel personal and meaningful, not just beautiful!
To finish off the evening, we stopped at the Penny Archade which was the best decision we could have made and you HAVE to scroll down t
First of all, it’s free to access, which is incredible considering how breathtaking it is. Garden of the Gods is easily one of the best places for engagement photos in Colorado, and having access to scenery like this without a fee is such a gift. (If you visit, please help keep it beautiful and clean!)
The red rock formations are dramatic, unique, and unlike anything else. They create the most stunning backdrop for a Garden of the Gods engagement session. And depending on where you are in the park, you can also capture incredible mountain views!
It can get crowded, especially during peak tourist season. If you’re planning engagement photos at Garden of the Gods, I recommend aiming for sunrise or sunset on a weekday — and if possible, visiting during the off-season. The softer light and fewer crowds make a huge difference.
One thing that made this destination engagement session so relaxed was flexibility. I was in Colorado for a few days, which meant if weather rolled in (because Colorado weather loves to surprise you), we had backup options. That’s something I always recommend when planning engagement photos in Colorado, build in breathing room if you can.
This trip completely stole my heart. Colorado is now one of my favorite places, and photographing a Garden of the Gods engagement session felt like such a dream!
If you’re planning a Colorado Springs engagement session, dreaming of engagement photos at Garden of the Gods, or looking for a destination engagement photographer who’s always ready to hop on a plane, I would absolutely love to capture it for you!!
